You have just done the work. You compared the three chains, picked the cheaper line on each item, and your Grovena cart is the shop you actually want.
Then comes the part nobody enjoys: opening the supermarket's own site and searching for every one of those items a second time, by name, hoping you land on the same pack size you just chose.
Send does that for you in one click. Your items go into your real Coles or Woolworths trolley, at the quantities you picked, and you check out there as normal.

What it actually saves
A forty-item shop is forty searches, forty results pages, and forty chances to pick the 500g when you costed the 1kg. That is the tax on comparing prices at all, and it is why a lot of people compare once, find it tedious, and stop.
One click instead:
- No retyping. We send the exact listing you chose, not a search for its name, so the pack size that made it cheaper is the pack size that lands.
- Nothing you already had is disturbed. If your trolley is half built, your quantities win wherever they are higher than ours.
- You see what happened. Which lines went in, which did not, and the retailer's own trolley total rather than our estimate of it.
- A split shop is still one click each. Eleven items to Woolworths, three to Coles, as two separate sends you can see the result of.
Getting set up
It is a small extension for Chrome on a computer, and it is the only setup there is. No account to connect, nothing to configure.
What happens when you press Send
- We check what is already in your real trolley.
- For each item we compare that with your Grovena cart and keep whichever number is higher, so nothing you already had is reduced.
- Anything missing is added in batched requests, never one request per item.
- We show you what landed, what did not, and the retailer's own trolley total.
A few things are deliberately left out and listed for you to add yourself: items sold by weight at the deli counter, and anything the retailer has stopped listing since we last checked.
Being signed in to the retailer
The two chains behave differently here, so it is worth knowing which one you are sending to.
Coles: sign in first. Coles does not keep a trolley for signed-out visitors, so there is nothing for us to add to. If you are signed out, the send stops before it changes anything and tells you to sign in. Coles also scopes every trolley to a particular store, so you need to have chosen your store or delivery address at least once.
Woolworths: either way works. Woolworths holds a trolley for signed-out visitors and merges it into your account when you sign in, so a send works before you have signed in and nothing is lost when you do.
Either way we never handle the sign-in itself. Your browser attaches it, in a tab you can see.
What it can and cannot do
It cannot see your supermarket login
The extension never reads, stores or refreshes a password or a login token, and it does not ask for one. It holds no permission to read cookies. On the Coles page it does read the page's own cookie text — the same string every script already running on that page can read — and takes exactly one named value out of it: which Coles store you shop at. When it adds something to your trolley, your browser attaches your existing sign-in itself — the same way it does when you click Add to Cart yourself.
It only ever adds
It never removes an item, never changes a quantity you set higher than ours, never empties a trolley and never buys anything. If your trolley already has three of something and your Grovena cart has one, it leaves your three alone. Sending twice is safe — you get the same trolley, not double the groceries.
It talks to Coles and Woolworths, nobody else
The two sites the extension can reach are coles.com.au and woolworths.com.au, and it has no way to contact our servers at all. Everything it needs arrives in the single instruction the website hands it when you press Send. It hands the result back the same way, and the Grovena page then records that send against your account — which lines went in, at what quantity, and the prices and total your retailer returned. That is how we can show you what happened and notice when sending stops working.
It runs only when you press Send
There is no background activity. The extension is idle until you click Send on your Grovena cart, does its work in a few hundred milliseconds, tells you exactly what happened, and goes back to sleep. It is not present on Coles or Woolworths pages you browse normally.
Why it has to be an extension
It is a fair question, and the honest answer is the reason we built it this way rather than the easy way.
Coles and Woolworths do not offer any way for another app to put items in your trolley. There is no "connect your account" option to switch on. The only way a website could do this on your behalf would be to ask you for your supermarket username and password, store them, and log in as you.
We are not willing to ask for that, and you should be wary of anyone who does. An extension avoids it entirely: it works inside your own browser, in a tab where you are already signed in, so nobody, including us, ever handles your supermarket password.
Where it works
Chrome, and Chrome-based browsers such as Edge and Brave, on a computer. Not on phones or tablets: mobile browsers do not support extensions of this kind, which is a limitation of the browsers rather than a choice we made.
Wherever it cannot run, pressing Send gives you a checklist of your items with a direct link to each one at the retailer. Nothing is lost; it is just a few more taps. The rest of Grovena works exactly as it always does.
Before you use it
Sending items uses your own Coles or Woolworths account. Both retailers ask people not to use automated tools on their sites, so this is your decision to make about your own account. We have kept it as close as possible to doing it by hand: nothing happens unless you click, one click sends your items in batched requests rather than one request per item, and we never remove anything, buy anything or change your account settings.
